This Japanese dish uses the chicken katsu. It’s a rice topping with egg, soy sauce, dashi, mirin and sugar. Mirin is a rice wine similar with sake commonly used with Japanese dishes.
Ingredients:
8 tablespoon water
½ teaspoon dashi powder
2 teaspoon sugar
4 tablespoon mirin
3 tablespoon soy sauce
sliced onions
1 beaten egg
cilantro
Directions:
- Add water, dashi powder, sugar, mirin, and soy sauce to a small pan
- Incorporate the onions and chicken katsu, then cover for 2 minutes
- Add the egg and the cilantro, cover for about 2-3 minutes before transferring to the bowl of rice
- Serve while hot
TabiEats inspired me to make use of the chicken katsu. It’s so good! The sauce is sweet, sour, and salty at the same time. Try this recipe.
